The coffee scene in New Orleans is ever-expanding, with the arrival of craft coffee bars and pour-over spots from Uptown to the Bywater. Now, a new zine produced by Church Alley Coffee hopes to capture this pivotal moment in the city’s coffee history.

The zine — Tasting Coffee in NOLA — released its first installment last week, and aims to be a quarterly publication. The slim volume features interviews with various coffee providers around town, as well as mini-lessons about New Orleans’ coffee history and the proper way to prepare classic bean-based concoctions. Interviewees include Solo Espresso owner Lauren Morlock, Bacchanal Executive Chef Joaquin Rodas and one of Church Alley’s own first employees, Katie Murphy. Many of the pages feature whimsical illustrations or coffee-related photographers, and can be torn out and mailed as postcards to fellow coffee devotees.

The $6 zine can be purchased at Church Alley, May Books, Solo Espresso or online.
